The pelvis is known as the “seat of your soul” or the second Chakra. It represents sexuality, sensuality, creativity and pleasure. It is energized by the color red-orange. Physical, Spiritual and Emotional issues can block the flow of energy and could cause lower back pain, hip pain, or pelvic pain, incontinence or lack of sexual desire.
The pelvis is like a crystal bowl that supports the sacral parts of you that create life and the sanctuary of sexual desire. This strong bowl supports the vital internal organs of the bladder, uterus and rectum.
Most of us are unaware that the pelvis is also full of muscles. The muscles form a web or “hammock” of intertwined muscles, ligaments and connective tissue. They are arranged in two layers; a superficial and a deep layer. This hammock is attached to different bones of the pelvis.
The pelvic floor is the foundation for all movement, balance, flexibility and alignment. The function of the pelvic floor is facilitated by the muscles of the lower back, TA, hips and inner thighs. These muscles are known as the auxiliary muscles that work in synergy with the pelvic floor. Just like a building is supported by its foundation so is the body supported by the pelvic floor.
